Project Goals:

• Restore key vegetation, including replanting and protecting keystone evergreen saplings, including red mangrove propagules in the Petit Carenage wetland area (part of HighNorth National Park)

​

• Increase the forest biomass and biodiversity

​

• Ensure natural water access to plants increasing the capacity for natural rain catchments (excavation of existing ponds to increase their intake capacity)

​

• Collect endemic tree seedlings and grow keystone tree saplings in the nursery

​

• Improve soil conditions and combat desertification

​

• Setup protection against erosion (e.g., Vetiver set as permanent buffers against erosion on the steep outer contours of High North)

​

• Setup protection against and predation of keystone and fruit & flower plant saplings from roaming cattle and goats (placing protective wire mesh cylinders around saplings)

​

• Mitigate  Global Warming effects and increase rain precipitation by augmenting tree biomass and canopy cover

​

• Educate, train, study, document and analyse the changes of the protected ecosystem
